Maybe that's part of the issue with EV's..... People see them as NEW TECH.... in reality, they are 120 year old technology updated with 1970's tech (Li ion batteries and computer chips)... Being dazzled by the tech can get in the way of solving the basic engineering problems of putting an electric powertrain in car that hasn't changed fundamentally since the 1920's. Ev's failed in the post WW1period thru a combination of poor marketing of their advantages, a lack of ongoing technical development (Ni-Cad batteries had been invented and largely forgotten...except later by the Nazi's) and the supercharging (pun intended) of the development of IC engines during the war.... There appears to by a relatively small window of opportunity to bring new ideas to mainstream acceptance before they are overtaken by the flow of events and to me the car industry as a whole doesn't feel as if it has any air of urgency around it.... IMO!
