I have posted this before that China are 2 steps ahead of the game. They are investing heavily in Africa and have plenty of options there. They can see the writing on the wall as far as the Western world catching up on converting lithium into battery packs themselves hence releasing us from the strangle hold they have over the entire industry now.

What they are also doing ahead of every other OEM besides Tesla is setting up their EV manufacturers
to dominate world markets. Their aim is to wipe out as many Legacy auto makers as possible along the way around the world and this will certainly be the case in a few short years.
Think of all the smaller car brands that wont have a few billion spare to convert to electrification.
The CCP heavily subsidize their EV auto makers ensuring they survive and thrive, even Legacy giant Ford
has not got it right so far with their EV ambitions, the chinese are laughing their heads off at the 15%pay increase US auto workers just got further increasing the costs to produce a car in the US.
They need to cut costs not increase them hence why competing with the chinese is going to be a very difficult task indeed as they dont like a level playing field.
We can all see how this is playing out with lithium prices and the industry
    in general.
    Its tanked basically.
    Playing nicely into their hands.
    Well played China.......well played.
