A 5 inch crack on a wing section is a huge defect, it would have taken a great deal of time to travel to that length, how come it’s taken this long to spot it. Now the FAA are going to start issuing directives via the old NDT methods to check the rest. Still we are kept out of the loop by snail pace Boeing certification boffin who for strange reasons are delaying the obvious fix for this via their new demands. Why did they not have this sorted when Roach went through the original FAA approval on the Boeing 737 wing-box application?
Hope Love doesn’t think that new AME news takes the pressure of, it does not, it is a positive but 40 choppers is small bikkies in the bigger mix of things. We need to be involved in many hundreds of aircraft numbers and that won’t happen until Boeing finally allows those sensors to be fitted on their aircraft, then Airbus to join in hopefully.
