With respect to the North Dome gold-copper drilling results, some may find this of interest.


Whereas orebodies in the Gawler Craton retain evidence of high-volume iron oxide (hematite) rich fluids altering passive and/or brittle hosts, Curnamona mineralisation is characterised by lower volume iron oxide (magnetite) rich fluids permeating metasediments with distinctive chemical characteristics.

Mineralisation in the Curnamona Province has therefore a more subtle geophysical signature but has potential to develop over significant strike lengths within favourable geochemical sites. Metasomatic alteration can be distinguished in magnetic and gravity data sets; however, geochemical methods and shallow drilling have been more successful in discovering Cu-Au mineralisation.

Recent successful exploration activity indicates that Cu-Au mineralisation with higher gold credits than the Gawler Craton will continue to be found in the Curnamona Province.

Interestingly, the gold to copper ratio of the Kalkaroo deposit increases significantly towards the west along the structurally controlled breccia zone, as demonstrated in the recently reported intersection of 102 m at 0.83% Cu and 1.6 g/t Au from 69 m in KKRC0136. The potential of this style of high gold to copper ratio mineralisation is yet to be recognised by the gold exploration industry.
