As for tyres if you drive it like you stole it then you will chew through tyres. (How many kilometers has your mate done?). mine last about 40,000 kms and I have found new ones for $150 a wheel (I have a lead foot!)
As for energy it Is convenient to fill up for 30 cents a KWh which equates to about $21 a tank while sleeping. A bit cheaper I would imagine compared to a 4wd.
I travel regularly from Cairns to Brisbane which is about 1,670 kms and costs less than $100.
Your right regarding ADO reduction of weight with the Model 3 coming in from 450 kilograms. A lower weight will improve efficiency and therefore will increase range.
Having a battery with faster charging will also help reduce the need for chargers as people will spend less time at chargers and enable the charging provider to have more customers pass through
I just went and had a look at my local BYD dealer to see the Atto 3 and new Dolphin. I think these will be very popular particularly for fleet buyers such as the Qld government fleet who are aiming to move to all electric by 2026.
