I actually sold nearly a third of my holding in the high teens and up to the peak at 21c in 2021. I did that after posting several months earlier that my near term target back then was the low 20's. I kept my upside exposure by switching to options in case it kept going higher than my target (you never know). Before any clown says I was ramping to sell, I actually was posting that I was selling shares to buy options to free up cash while maintaining my upside exposure. That freed up a lot of cash as I only bought as many options as I sold shares and the options were much cheaper. I later sold a lot of the options as the expiry got closer but lost a fair bit on the sale and expiry of the remaining options. The overall outcome was still very good and I did use the freed up cash to buy other stocks and to buy back all of my MNB shares at gradually lower prices. I would have been better off not buying the options and holding off buying back the shares until now, but while I have my targets, I don't pretend to know for sure what the sp will do ahead of time. I didn't know that it would peak at 21c which was a couple of cents below my target and I didn't expect it to get this low now. However my average price is currently around 5.5c so I am happy with this investment. Especially so because I took a big chunk of that 2021 profit and put it into a lithium stock that is probably going to return significantly more to me than my current holding here. I won't count that chicken just yet but I'm hoping to take some of that profit and buy more Minbos if the price hasn't rallied too far by then.
I was buying around 6 and 7c in 2021 before that 21c peak. It looked far more risky back then than it does now and that down trend was ugly. It was hard to buy but it turned out to be a great trade. That doesn't guarantee the same will happen from around here but it's better to sell high and buy low IMO, rather than the other way around. However you do want to be very confident of your research if buying into a deeply depressed sp.
Some prefer to only buy up trends but by the time it looks like an uptrend, the price could be 100% higher and you still could be paying double for a dead cat bounce only to see it drop sharply from there. Trading is never as easy as some here suggest with their "I told you so" posts.
