There is not now, nor will there be enough batteries and Hydro for many, many years.
Current batteries have very limited output. Tasmanian dams only send 400MW to the mainland. Snowy Hydro won't fill much of the demand.
In the long term I think there will be a solution provided by the use of car batteries feeding back to residential areas and nuclear powering smelters. But that's decades away.
In the mean time there is a gap between reality and wishful thinking.
Luckily the ALP has assigned Mr Bowen to the problem
