Gen 1 was almost perfect on frequency response from 20-20k Hz, THD and phase response. The only issue was loudness. I think that AKP simulations were indicating that Gen 2 will be (maybe) eight times louder. So ... what advantage could the competitors have?
Maybe one (or more) of, size, loudness, price. We know the size of the AKP chip, loudness and maybe price to be revealed. Price can always be reduced if there is viable competition.
The other issue will be reliability. Yuval said that Gen 2 will be more reliable than Gen 1. I am not sure as to whether we have been informed as to the reliability statistics for Gen 1. I think Danny said something about the team "overclocking" chips which I take it means run them continuously for hours at full volume for weeks(?) to see if they fail or whether fidelity diminishes. Maybe they are checking Gen2 in a similar way at the moment.
