I think Ford made a mistake when they leveraged the Mustang badge to promote their EV. The Mach E is one of the more desirable EVs being produced at the moment and yes its performance like many EVs can certainly match traditional Mustangs but the Mach E is an SUV, not even close to an ICE Mustang in appearance and image.
IMO Ford should have just called their new EV a Mach E without any reference to a Mustang. In the future if they put a 2 door body and some extra performance features on the Mach E then they would have had a legitimate reason to use the Mustang badge but definitely not on their standard model.
