2.8kgs *is* a big deal. Extrapolate that out to a year & Mr or Ms Fatty loses just over 12kgs. All for doing nothing more than taking a pill. Those well meaning people pointing out the value of diet & exercise are missing the point: these have proven to be abject failures as weight-loss techniques. They've been around since time immemorial, and their effect well known, and yet obesity, type II diabetes, etc etc has grown to pandemic proportions.
But the real point here is this: if the pill worked in a super-rapid fashion - let's say 10kgs lost in 2 weeks - then how would the drug company make a buck? Surely the most attractive proposition for any drug company (& its shareholders) is constant medication, i.e. when Mr or Ms Fatty signs up today, we want them still on the pill 2 years later, not finishing up in 4 weeks!
