Trust me, as someone who spent 40 years in aviation (ATC) some of the busiest, high stress situations are thunderstorms. There are only two crew in the flight deck. One will be the Pilot flying the aircraft and the other will be doing the communication with ATC, possibly the company and if time permits, the cabin crew. This is in addition to many other vitally important tasks such as monitoring fuel, working out alternate aerodromes to land at etc. etc. etc.
The order of play for aviation is Safe, Orderly and Expeditious. Trust me, with thunderstorm related traffic, the orderly and expeditious are out the window and the aim is SAFETY…
