Was no rumour - they had discussions with a number of interested parties but nothing seemed to eventuate. The valuation of US$1.7b was arrived at by Barclays who assumed 3.6b barrels at the time. Most recent estimates have Venus at 5.1b barrels, which could certainly increase further again.
