The insult came from @pintohoo - he/she or whatever is the one who quoted as saying 'simple people look at buying price only'. Thus perhaps take up your gripe with that poster - perhaps ask for an apology from that poster.
As far as costs there are many factors over the life of a vehicle. It is already evident that EV's cost more to insure due to fire risk, tyres wear out quicker simply because they are heavier, they're overpriced and depreciation is massive. Then add the initial cost differential. Who cares about the cost of petrol if one can afford luxury vehicles? I once queried the cost of an accelerator cable and was told oh but it's for a sports car thu naturally parts cost more.
As far as the Mazda 6 - I'd take that any day over any Tesla or BMW. I owned a number of different Mazda vehicles but never new - couldn't fault them and the high end new Mazda 6 is a beautiful high quality car.
