I’m pretty sure that Israeli governments over decades have envisaged the demise of Palestine. David Ben gurion or more precisely David Gruen gave not a stuff about the existence of Palestinians or non Jews. His view was they didn’t belong and had no right to the land belonging as it did to the Jews as the chosen people and as a bulwark against supposed barbarism.

Golda meir was a muderous racist thug. Again not born in the area she disavowed the existence of Palestine or Palestinians claiming that heritage for herself. She happily ordered assassinations yo rid herself of her enemy and occupiers of territory she wanted

I think Israel always hoped that under pressure the Palestinians and Gazans (all that is left really ) would b off and leave the land to them.
but I’m not surprised Egypt has no interest of otter surrounding nations. Why would or should they should the burden that should have been the responsibility of the UN - toothless and compliant in the face of injustice
I can barely believe I am saying this. But here we are the consequences of millennia of injustice towards Jews is playing out in a way that the bullied become the aggressor
nothing good can come of this bug hardly any wonder that apocalyptic Christians see this as heralding the end of the world
