I agree that the US is to some extent a war economy .
IMO the US wants to retain its 1990s global hegemony
economically, politically and militarily and it will do
whatever it takes to maintain that even if that means
throwing countries like the Ukraine to the wolves .
The US now controls Europe via Europe having to
give up its independence to a US led NATO . Add to that
the economic impact of this war on the European economy
(particularly Germany) and the economic objectives of
weakening Europe and winging the Euro, the Greenback's
chief competitor to displace the greenback as the global reserve currency.
IMO if push comes to shove in our geographic area, the US will
also send us down the drain should our strategic interests conflict
with those of the USA. In other words we have essentially lost
our independance and we are quietly defending into a South
Pacific outpost for Uncle Sam given that Guam, Okanawa
the Phillipines are within range of Chinese Hypersonic
weapons .
So in summary, given the US role in the Ukraine post 2013
its leading role in NATO, a Ukrainian defeat would greatly
damage the US standing in the world generally and specifically
Europe.
That said, , the US wants the EC demolished as evidenced by its backing
Brexit , so a Ukrainian failure in this war will certainly weaken the EU and
the Euro, IMO. The blowing up of NordStream is merely a symbol of that.
