Last time I was there it was very easy to use the greenbacks for every purchase, even asked for everywhere including McDonalds - yes I had a meal there but lets keep that between us. I amways buy a 1/4 pounder medium meal everywhere I go...I then convert that to AU$ and it gives me a simple sense on how the living standard is in varous countries around the world. I should do a web page constantly updating this simple measure.
More recently, I have been to Chile where the Chilean Peso ruled in day to day living...I only traveled to Punta Arenas and Porta Williams. The interesting thing was that at all the government run places like museums, National Parks etc were all very happy - almost encouragingly so to take the $US.
Great way to play a long game on the greenback. Mind you the Chilean economy isn't the basket case that Argentina is.
Either way, it all impacts POG in various ways and as a producer, we are in a very good position...as are all my gold producing stocks at this time.
