Interesting thought...for any company with a sizeable short against them, could someone like SOL/MQG go short-hunting by lobbing offers they know will get rejected purely for the purpose of causing an SP spike and a resulting short squeeze?
Maybe liquidity is the issue...the play works but they can't then offload enough volume to be worthwhile?
Would also have a bit of boy who cried wolf about it, couldn't do it many times before the market realised the TO offers had no follow through.
