    your responses are not genuine.
You can't get a semi automatic weapon is the point. and the undeniable and irrefutable fact is that we have not had the equivalent of Hoddle Street Queen Street or Port Arthur since Howards reforms.
As for Australia's telecommunication Monopoly, if Telstra had remained in government hands and competition had not been introduced can you imagine what the last 25 years would have been like as the world was brought into the information technology age. Our nation would appear totally prehistoric. Every telco today needs to be nimble and run competitively.
That the MUA has "broken back" is an indictment on the Labour party not John Howard. John was pointing to Singapore docks moving 40 containers per hour as an example of what our nation needs to be competitive. I remember the MUA in Melbourne saying it was impossible to move more than 13 containers per hour. Once reforms were implemented it became over 25 containers per hour. How so?? Do you think maybe the MUA was bullshiteing us?
In my opinion John Howard's mistake was this. After 13 years in office you begin to look stale to any democratic electorate. He needed to open up the coffers two years out from the 2007 election. Having got the budget into a relatively big surplus he needed to take a leaf out of labours political book and splash some money around. Spend big on some infrastructure projects, cut taxes, make himself popular by spending with gay abandon. He could have got the books balanced after getting back into power.
as an aside what did Kevin Rudd do when the global financial crisis hit? gave us all a lump sum 700 dollars. Wow, the economic sophistication of the man knew no limits.
Anyway you are a left winger. I can smell it from here so I don't know why I'm bothering to try and talk any sense into you.
ps. one last indicator of John Howard's integrity. when he went for the role of head of the international Cricket board he was rejected? why do you reckon? I'm guessing because the members of the board realized that with Howard steering the boat that would be the end of them making money from betting on/ fixing the game.
