Well. What a day in Adelaide. We dodged a bullet this morning when a massive pine from next door fell against my parent’s home and we were sitting next to a huge window that shattered in place and no branches happened to push into the spot where we were - had it done so, well, goodness knows. I did a huge leap out of my chair and took my 88 yo Mum with me out of her chair as it sounded like a bomb went off. The thick Oregon beam above our head splintered. It sounded like the roof was caving in. They originally had 2 skylights but now have 2 more where branches permeated the roof straight through straw racked ceilings. Then the rain came. Noah would have been impressed.
I must say the SES was tremendous in the short term and then the emergency assistance from our insurers kicked in and the tree clearers brought in a crane and then the emergency builders came in with tarps to secure the home. All from 10.30am.
We are incredibly lucky to be safe as it could have been, unthinkable.
