There are 150 Memebers in lower house.Last two weeks have shown the weakness of our system.

Some thing is seriously wrong with our current system. definitely it is the least disliked who get elected but we need some reforms. If we don;t change, then

Twenty years from now we are heading for disaster in Australian Politics where few minor groups will start using their political and religious agenda and bring the country to its knee.

Example:

1) Andrew Wilkie got around 21% primary votes only from his area, that too in Hobart(Just 13,724 votes only). Total Australia population is 22 Millions. That is representating 0.00006% of populations, but he is most powerful man for next three years and most likely will bring govt down too.

2)Adam Bandt received 28,950 votes only. Far less than Labor candidate. One candidate will put Carbon Tax on Entire nations populations.

"Why didn't we had a separate vote whether we want to vote for Carbon Tax or not"

3) Hypothetical case: Some one who can mobilise a particular community in a highly segregated area and ends up in a situation like current. Then start demanding concessions for a particular community or religious or ethinic group, which will help to win him next election.

It is disaster in the waiting.
