I agree that the term "cult" is mostly used in a derogatory sense.
In the case of JW's Governing Body directives regarding blood transfusions, I regard them as a cult for attempting to deny people a sacred gift of life through sacred blood when it gives them a greater chance of life - which is sacred to God.
