Auditor, time you got a history lesson.
Lithuanians and Jews have a long strong harmonious history going back centuries. As a matter of fact Vilnius was called the Jerusalem of the North.
During the war Lithuania was attacked by the Germans then Russia then Germans again and finally by Russia.
During the first invasion many Lithuanians my parents included, sheltered and hid the Jews away from the Germans.
Then came the Russians, and how did the Jews repay the Lithuania loyalty. They colluded with the Russians, they attempted to overthrow the elected Lithuanian government and impose a Jewish government. They also worked with the Russians to load trainloads of Lithuanian prisoners who were sent to Siberia.
Naturally when the Germans came again, the Lithuanians were not going to shelter the Jews like they did the first time. They turned on the Jews like the Jews had turned on them. Payback.
Lithuanians don't hate the Jews. I have close Jewish friends. I am not antisemitic, I am just aware of a history which the Jews would like to be written out of the history books, but which is part of my parent's history.
