My understanding is the Jews bought land off the Arabs back in the early 1900's in areas all over Palestine including parts of the West Bank.
Some of the land had tenants on it, who became homeless, and that a I understand it is where the problem lies.
A problem to be solved in the courts (maybe they've tried?) not at the end of a gun.
