I can relate to your hubby’s interest in watching earthmoving explosives 8)).
Ten years or or so ago, I was dead set keen to win a project involving dynamic compaction … 20-25 tonne blocks being dropped from 20-25m height from a crawler crane to achieve effective compaction to depths of 10-15m … 10 or so drops in the same spot then moving around doing it on a 5m x 5m grid … the 2-2.5m deep divots are back filled and then another round of compaction on an offset 5m grid … won Port Botany container terminal 3 … 2 years later we finished!
The first drop was heart beatingly exciting, the next drop ever so less exciting and so on … luckily I only had to visit the site for meetings and problem solving.
Dynamic compaction is now off the bucket list, but I still haven’t seen a blast.
