At the end of the day, Kava was allowed back into Australia simply to improve diplomatic relations with the islands. The importance of these relations is only increasing with the presence of China in the region. There is no way the regulations are going to go backwards. Surely the politicians know just how much pot and coke is consumed in Australia let alone the more dangerous drugs. Kava is not on the same level in any way in terms of harm. Add to that the alcohol problem, particularly in indigenous communities.
