may your god bless you and your little acres. I share you concern as a nimby for my place in the sun with a qtr acre block and >500 hectares on 3 sides of my home (yes, I've mowed a 100 metre clearing of fuel load on the two sides exposed to the bush). I don't want the bush bulldozed for new developments of ⅛ acre blocks and macMansions all looking the same.

for the past 30 years the NSW Housing comm has been buying older houses to use as social housing. over the last tenure of the Lib Govs very very few (I read on ABS that only around 250 social houses had been built in 9 years) new houses have been made available. this is one of the reasons rental rates are rising..... lack of housing being built for low income renters.

yes maybe Leichardt and other burbs scattered around the Sydney basin. the urban sprawl and 5 acre blocks have created some of the difficulty of finding land suitable for social housing. limits to where such housing can be built include the infrastructure that comes with green field constructions.
