I remember posting back in the year of 2017/18 that circa 700,000 E-bikes were sold world-wide that year and that growth would be exponential - and it was/is. An easy assumption, given the ever-rising cost of fuel, the E-bikes long range and their ability to supplant the car for that short journey to work - without much physical effort.
Then came Covid where close quarter travel was shunned, rampant inflation, subsidies in the US for E-bikes, a leap in environmental awareness due to some crazy-ass weather all over the planet and let's face it people are generally lazy, which has rendered the conventional pushbike a relic of the past - sales down 16%.

Fastforward to 2022 and world-wide E-bike sales have now reached 40.3 million units per year and 2023 is set to eclipse that figure.

Keep in mind that the growth story for E-bikes over the last 6 years is most probably similar for E-scooters, motor scooters and the venerable tuk tuk found in massive numbers throughout Asia and the Subcontinent. All of which can be easily refueled/charged for free by a few solar panels.

Now there's 'A GREAT REPLACEMENT THEORY,' which has become fact.
