Sure. Maybe he can refer to it as an intermediate TD. I've worked with the petroleum industry in Aus on naming conventions. In Australia the sidetrack would get its final TD which is what it is now. The extension would be a new activity, be named ST1 Ext or similar and get a proposed TD and actual TD when it is drilled. The extension can have a different rig and other data so needs to be it's own special thing.
Personally, so long as they are clear that the intention is to extend the sidetrack further into the LA in the future I don't think it matters if he refers to the TD right now as intermediate or not.
