Groundzero....an aptly nick given this thread.
I do not agree that it necessarily follow that radioactivity would be so great as to prohibit the excavation of oil or even that any nuclear strike upon Iran would make it uninhabitable for the next 2000 years.
I agree though that oil would be at the forefront of the minds to may take us to war with Iran however I do think that much of the Iranian governments posturing is for domestic consumption seeking to sure up their support within Iran.
Deep fractures exist within Iranian society with most of their population being born after the Shah of Iran was deposed and talking with Iranians who now call Australia home, most in Iran just want a more liberal society with the mad mullahs being side lined which is why they are so paranoid of loosing their power, this supporting the current government.
It is all about power and controls by the clerics in Iran over their population the survival of the hard line government. The vast majority of Iranians living in Iran does not want a conflict with the west of even Israel and want only to live in peace and care for their families.
Sadly I feel the Iranian leadership will nonetheless lead them all down the path of brinkmanship with the west and Israel and one false move, one miscalculation could spell disaster for Iran and its people.
That is imo the real danger.
