What is extraordinary about three drowning because of a capsized boat, or getting swept into storm water drains that they shouldn’t be anywhere near?
A lot of where was badly affected on the Gold Coast was scrubland 60 years ago. Now very built up. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that there are more fatalities (often through misadventure) when there are more people in the affected area.
It isn’t climate change that’s driving the fatalities. It’s population growth, and people putting themselves in harms way.
