Let me rephrase for you, as you do like playing stupid.

Having western companies operate in the DRC brings into play good mining practices where both mine death are reduced, people prosper through increased living standards and mining is done responsibly.

Lets have a look at Chinese mining practices in the DRC that screw over the local people - lets start with artisanal cobalt mining. Disgraceful practice - nice China involvement there in the DRC in cobalt btw (This Is Where the Cobalt for Our Electronics Comes From (popularmechanics.com))

And lets talk about the environmentally responsible mining practices of Zijin in the DRC while we are at it. They are driven by profits without regard to the DRC people mining and their health - Copper and cobalt mining is “wrecking lives” in the DRC, finds Amnesty International (mining-technology.com)

None of that surprises me because you only have to look at mining practices in relation to lepidolite in China, and how they produce vanadium from slag to see the environmental disregard. Could put up other examples of mining practices in China but can't be bothered.

If Zijin get a hold on Manono you can forget about good ESG mining practices by them. That is the disgrace I associate with the DRC president and his corrupt cohorts in government there.

I can certainly say that AVZ been in charge of mining would certainly see good ESG practices. Zijin, no.

Anyway, what happens with AVZ will determine whether western exploring mining companies decide to explore in the DRC. Why would you bother exploring in the DRC given if you fond something big it can be taken of you. And we won't bother talking about western investment there if AVZ is not afforded its right, as clearly it means the DRC has not addressed the soveriegn risk issues in that country.

The problem here was the DRC invited AVZ to explore Manono but when the DFS came out, government officials there couldn't believe the riches afforded and how much money its corrupt government officials could pocket from the development. And China doesn't mind brown paper bags. The irony I see is one argument these corrupt officials are saying to try to give the rights to Zijin is 'The deposit is not been mined'. How do you mine a deposit where a ML has not been given, and if an ML was given I certainly believe that mine construction would be happening right now, and that the mine would be in production in 2024. Now all that has happened is a massive delay, whilst at the same time other lithium deposits are on the road to mining (and that is a loss of income to the people's of the DRC).

As to you, you should be embarrassed with yourself because Manono in Chinese hands is not going to be mined responsibly.

Nonetheless, AVZ does need to cut a deal.

To go back to my view:

"CHINESE have been screwing over AFRICA for years...!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    All IMO
