I've come to believe that the best car is no car. Unfortunately I need a car because there are no footpaths on my street, hardly any public transport in the neighbourghood, and I have a person with a disability in my family. It's actually slightly galling that there is so much emphasis placed on government action to encourage the use of EVs. The motivation is the climate crisis, but it they REALLY wanted to address that issue they would be building footpaths and cycleways so more people could go car-free, instead of paying for grid upgrades and charging stations etc.. EVs actually have a big carbon footprint compared to car-free.

Ah well, if my PLS shares go really well I'll move closer to a train station and ditch the car, and have an extra $75K to spend on a house. But if the climate crisis gets really bad, we'd better watch out, because then the move towards NO cars will gain momentum and our shares will collapse... but they will collapse anyway because there'll be a global food shortage and massive inflation, and a record drought and a million refugees etc. etc, etc.
