Not sure what form Labor's tax will take however in the Fin yesterday it was reported that the German government has extended the life of their nuclear generators an average of 12 years from 2022.

The four nuclear energy utilities would pay an atomic fuel tax from next year valued at Euro 2.3 billion annually. The companies would also pay Euro 300 million in 2011 and 2012 and Euro 200 million in subsequent years into an investment fund for renewable energy projects.
Sounds like a good example for here except that we could use gas instead.
