    PART 3

DENIAL OF ANTHROPOGENIC CLIMATE CHANGE IS MEANT TO BE STUPID

Earlier in this thread, the redoubtable @Alex.shipway asked a posting denier why they change the subject away from climate change so often.. naturally, no answer came back then, so i'll provide it now.

climate change denial is fake science, it's pseudoscience, it doesn't have a scientific leg to stand on. It essentially revolves around some opinionated muppet getting on their soapbox and asserting something without attribution or evidence.

after they've done this once in a post, they like to move quickly on, because repetition stultifies readers

sure, at another time, they might advance the views of a formerly distinguished now disgruntled senior scientist or policymaker as they meander through 50 shades of grey. Or, a paid tongue at a fossil fuel-funded 'think' trough. Or cherry-pick some ambiguous data. Or nitpick about professional meteorologists being unable to accurately record temperatures, unlike the poster.

or pull attention onto the weather, ie short term noise, and away from analysis of long term climate trends. Noisemaking welcomed. It snowed somewhere therefore there is no global warming.

denial is undoubtedly stupid and deniers know it.

HERE'S THE RUB: denial's only task is to create doubt - no matter how small and inconsequential - in climate science. And repeat ad nauseum infinitum. Some of the mud will stick. When the attention of the world's climate scientists is focussed on global warming, start rabbiting on about some cool trend stretching back millions of years.

Denial is meant to be stupid: it's role is to cast doubt.

If you're wondering why, look at WHC's financial statements and read the report cited below about oil and gas industry profits. There's a massive trough and not so many snouts.

    think greed.

if stupid is all it takes to tap this gravy train...

below is the start of an article in The Guardian from July 21, 2022 on oil and gas industry profits.

    THE GUARDIAN

"The oil and gas industry has delivered $2.8bn (£2.3bn) a day in pure profit for the last 50 years, a new analysis has revealed.

"The vast total captured by petrostates and fossil fuel companies since 1970 is $52tn, providing the power to “buy every politician, every system” and delay action on the climate crisis, says Prof Aviel Verbruggen, the author of the analysis.

"The huge profits were inflated by cartels of countries artificially restricting supply."
