The gold sector should hum again today. In addition to the takeover of Andean by Canada's Gold Corp announced last Friday, it was announced late yesterday that Avoca (a smaller/mid sized Australian goldie) is to merge with another Canadian company at a premium for AVO. These mergers follow two recent major mergers, Kinross/Redback and Newcrest/Lihir.
