Will we all wait for something I’ll share another story.

it was 1999, and everyone expected to world to stop. .I could be wrong but I believe it was was cyclone Drena at the time.

Myself and currently still married wife decided to head up to Spirits Bay to see the cyclone in for force, we had arrangements with a few scruffy staggers to pick them up on the way from Hohuia. In the old Hilux we hit At Ahu road which was the 15m avenue to the Bluff weeds we had decided to spend the night.

Anyways. We get up to Te Ahu road and begin to head down it. Get to the first tree down ang it’s like we are doing the 90m trip back down to Aripira and then found the one hour trip up to the bluff. The sun was now setting and the enormous waves were beginning to take impacts.

So we cruise up the beach at a typical West Coast sunset at around a 100km an hour knowing we had limited time to get thei. Not long before we get to our destination a f*ing wave and enormous foam ball encounters us. We went from nearly 100kph to 5 in a split second. The boys in the back Riga and wastose lost their beers to the front window. I threw the truck into low gear ang we made it around the corner for the home to the bluff. My wife and the two other guys in the car that day still reckon what I did that day saved their lives.

Another story for another day as we wait for news.

While we wait I’ll post a classic Spirits bay story tomorrow.
