The classic definition of a golden cross relates to the 50 and 200 day simple moving average.
As to whether simple moving averages or exponential moving averages are better, that’s a matter for debate.
I like to keep it simple. Thus, simple moving averages. If I wanted a shorter signal, there’s the shorter period moving averages.
