Tesla's biggest sales is in China and the two top selling Teslas in Aus are the 3 and Y which are both made in China.
before setting up in China the SP of Tesla was struggling with a series of CRs but once it started production in China the SP hit its straps and with it Musk's wealth.
As I said previously , China has the lions share of the Auto maniufacturing with 30 Million + units P/A out of 90 million odd globally. And that share is increasing as well a spare parts/component manufacture .
Of course auto manufacturing features prominantly in China's "Made in China 2025" program.
I know that the RW Populists (small government, low tax and minimal government interference in business will see China's auto manufacturing res as a "flash on the pan" but history should teach us something: - Germany.....massive Government auto assistance post WW2 -Japan..........mega Government Auto Assistance post WW2 - Korea did ditto but was a slow started - and now China .
in mind that human labour is now being rapidly vis robotisation /AI so the Aussie naysayers "our wages are too high" is fast becoming obsolete particularly with EV that have less moving parts than traditional ICEs.
It more about Capital & Technology/R&D now rather than grunt labour!
