Thanks for the info supertramp. That's pretty much exactly what I've been saying so it's nice to hear someone else has come to the same conclusion.
The majors rejected the Amadeus almost as soon as the Cooper was discovered because the Cooper was much more prospective, and nearly everybody I've talked to about the Amadeus (including the experts who taught me the geology there) had the same atttude as this Santos guy.
They are probably all in for a major re-appraisal of the Basin
It's said that the secret to success in business is recognising opportunities before others do. JH has copped a lot of flak about a lot of things, but he certainly seems to have recognised the opportunity in the Amadeus while the experts were still dismissing it.
If they get oil to surface in this well I wouldn't be surprised if a major was willing to farm in to CTP to share the costs of a new exploration/appraisal program.
