Not one word of that has answered what is objectively a reasonable question on my part, namely:

Do you expect Woolworths and Coles (or any business for that matter) to generate financial returns on capital which is lower than the cost of the capital they deploy?

This notion that Coles & Woolies shouldn't be making 'record profits' is nonsensical.
Even without price inflation sales would rise due to the ever increasing population.
The same goes for the banks.
