TotalEnergies will know within days if its closely watched Mangetti-1X exploration probe offshore Namibia is a success, although the company may keep the results from its latest Orange basin well under wraps until next month. The French supermajor is also preparing to shoot 3D seismic data over two prospects that could be even bigger than Venus which, according to state oil company Namcor, holds about 5.1 billion barrels of oil in place."
TotalEnergies currently has two rigs working in the Venus area, with the semi-submersible rig DeepSea Mira recently mobilising to drill the Venus-2A appraisal well, having completed Venus-1A last month, according to marine intelligence provider VesselsValue.Venus-2A is located roughly four kilometres north of the first appraisal well and — indicating the immense areal extent of this huge find — some 24 kilometres southeast of Mangetti-1X."
