Saw great idea on my last trip down to the Margaret River wineries. Windance Wineries have a great vege garden and they put it down to the worm juice they produce, it also goes on the vines (and their wines are pretty nice too). They try to be as organic as possible.
They use an old bath filled with scraps etc for compost and put COMPOSTING worms into it. Strips and chunks of cardboard are also added, layered with other material. This is all covered and I think kept moist (perhaps and specially during summer. The worm juice then filters down to the bottom of the bath, drains thru the drain hole and collected. It has to be diluted to be used on the vines and veges, think he said 100:1.
Anyway they swear by it, have not tried it myself as I live in an apartment complex and don't think my neighbours would appreciate it. Hope someone can test it and see, sounds like a pretty efficient way of feeding your veges and vines if you've got them. The owner did say you MUST use special composting worms and add the clean cardboard for it to succeed.
