Yeh I don't agree. You use the roads, hospitals, water and other general infrastructure provided by governments for society. Having a tax free kick for life post 60 on everything you have in Super no matter how large is ridiculous and nobody needs that. That's 20+ years on average of minimal financial contribution to the society you live in and use the facilities of. And that age group of non-contributors is growing and being supported by a smaller % of working age citizens.
Means testing that advantage makes perfect sense to me. $3M is plenty to live a good life without having to live it out reading books by the window. Most people who have $3M will continue to grow it anyway post retirement.
