That was 50 years ago when the young were highly influenced by their parents after WW2 . They grew up in households of male dominance and the women rarely went to higher education. Birth control was in it's infancy and no one had heard of the Greens let alone climate change. Right wing media dominated Australia, there was no internet and overseas news was limited. The shift started about the time Bob Hawke was PM. Polls back then still had the 35-55 demographic as favouring conservatism. But that has shifted again and that cohort are now favouring left. It is a gradual change over a generation or two. If you want to be rooted in the past then that is where you will stay.
Even the liberal report into 2022 recognised this.
