DJ Port Hedland Iron Ore August Exports 13.59M Tons, Down 7.1% From July14/09/2010 12:57PM AEST PERTH (Dow Jones)--Iron ore exports from Australia's Port Hedland totalled 13.59 million metric tons in August, according to the port authority's website Tuesday.

The shipments were down 7.1% from 14.63 million tons in July, the authority said.

Iron ore exports to China were 9.71 million tons, little changed from 9.705 million tons in July, it added.

The authority doesn't provide individual breakdowns for the major port users BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP), Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. (FMG.AU) and Atlas Iron Ltd. (AGO.AU).
