It sounds like an interesting relationship to be sure. I'd say it's not simply a customer + contractor relationship so much as more of a joint venture between the parties. At this stage let's not assume that there is defensiveness and animosity just busting to break out between them. Without knowing all the details one assumes that each party does need some of the other's IP to some degree. That will ensure that they play nice at least. Of course this happens all the time in a host of industries, and I expect the parties would simply pay each other a license-to-use fee. At this stage both parties are undoubtedly addressing their public statements to their own markets and making noises that are appropriate in their own respective spheres. But also undoubtedly, they talk to each other as partners working together and respecting each other's roles.
The problem is more for us holders getting adequate information on anything that is happening from AKP.
