I agree, Kal could easily qualify for a microgrid.
With WA’s abundance of Gas resources, we could very easily pipe gas into the area and provide it with cheap, reliable and effective energy.
Of course there’s always potential issues with all forms of energy production but I reckon this would be a great opportunity for our State government to build energy security for one of our great remote cities.
By the way, I reckon the ACT should also consider a “microgrid”. Purchasing all that energy from a far more distant SA is ludicrous.
