The shop fires are because the govt has made legal cigarettes so expensive many can't afford them there's now a thriving black market and these fires are the result of that. Banning cigarettes wouldn't stop people smoking, it'd just force every smoker to buy from the black market. No different to what will happen with vaping, the black market will just expand massively and make the products even more accessible to children - the exact opposite of what the govt is CLAIMING to be trying to stop(I say claiming because I'm sure their real motive is to keep people smoking and thereby helping govt tax revenue)

New Zealand appear to be on a more intelligent track with regards to both smoking and vaping. Vaping is encouraged as a smoking alternative and the sale of cigarettes to anyone born after a certain date is illegal. Smoking rates have dropped significantly faster in countries that have followed the science and embraced vaping as a safer alternative
