Where did I say rare earths are completely irrelevant ? I didn't ! how bout you read before you respond.
Rare Earths are extremely relevant to America and Australia and if AVZ was a rare Earth mining company then may be they would be some hope of actually getting some assistance from Australian government.
Lithium " is not " a rare earth mineral and it is "abundant" across the planet as I stated in my original post.
For context the post I was responding to was suggesting the Australian Gov may help AVZ by freezing Zijins mining assets in Australia for which I offered my opinion on the likely hood of that happening as being next to zero
To answer your question of what happens to the rest of the worlds lithium mines if china gets Manono - A minor flesh wound would be my response . The asset is in the middle of nowhere with no infrastructure in place to economically ship it to China perhaps ask Joe Lowry what he thinks about DRC lithium ? apparently he is an expert who knows shiploads more about the Lithium market than you or I do .
