I was well in the T20 a few years ago with Alex ringing me on the odd occasion (when he was CEO) and everything he stated (like this will be the last CR we need, or words to that effect) all turned out to be ... let's say ... less than reliable. (Being VERY polite here.)
The "Non-exec director" status tenure timeframe you refer to is not the complete picture.
IMO - The company was being driven into the dust until Nan (and her hubby) got involved and thereafter the strategic direction changed. amb005 might wish to contribute.
